What makes the Elite X so special and why is it that we may consider it a "trendsetter"? The goal of developers was to come with an innovative battery solution while paying particular attention to the needs associated with the daily use by customers. That is why this battery is removable, meaning that after parking your scooter you can take it out and carry it home with you. You can charge both your phone and the USB-C power bank while riding the scooter. It is removable and so you can take it with you wherever your travels take you. And since the maximum range specified by the manufacturer is 100 km, it can be truly anywhere. To make your adventures legal, the manufacturer has limited the top speed to 25 km/h, courtesy of two motors providing an output of 1000W each. The rumor has it that there also exists a so-called "illegal" version equipped with 2 x 2000W motors and a top achievable speed of 100 km/h.
Body, design and equipment
When creating the brand-new IO HAWK Elite X model, the designers followed the philosophy of making it as user-friendly as possible. Their efforts resulted in a compact, yet well-equipped machine with almost maintenance-free design. The top part of the IO HAWK Elite X is dominated by the built-in LCD panel. It displays all the necessary riding data. The IO HAWK has developed a mobile app for its customers, which you can use, for instance, to pair an NFC chip and lock your machine remotely. The immobilizer is adjustable for up to 120 minutes (blocked motor and flashing lights on movement). After connecting your smartphone to the scooter via Bluetooth, you can set the scooter’s advanced riding options, turn on/off one of the motors, as well as control the lights or set up your initial acceleration method (kickstart). Naturally, all these options are available via the control unit.
Power and range
The IO HAWK Elite X combines great performance with long range and high build quality. The two motors are installed directly in the wheel hub and provide a power of 2 x 1000W. Once you turn the handle, you can ride at a speed of 25 km/h, which is more than sufficient for an urban environment. In terms of specs, the 48V lithium battery with a capacity of 25 Ah and consisting of LG cells does not lag behind the rest of the scooter. It only takes 6 hours to fully charge the battery, allowing you to cover distance of up to 100 km. As standard, the scooter comes with a 4.5 Ah charger. According to the manufacturer, the Elite X can handle almost any slope thanks to its two powerful motors. Meaning, not even a hill with a gradient over 25% frightens this machine.
Safety and comfort
With the Elite X, you do not have to worry about damaging your knees when riding through rough terrain. This scooter comes with front and rear suspension in the form of adjustable hydraulic springs combined with traditional swing arms. This optimizes its shock-absorbing capacity. The rebound is adjustable to your liking in 10 gradual steps using the rotary wheel located on the suspension. The chassis is therefore able to fulfill its main role - maximum riding comfort. The combination of the afore-mentioned suspension with 11-inch off-road tubeless tires made by CST makes the scooter even more comfortable. Forget worrying about getting a puncture as these tires have one more amazing feature. Thanks to the gel installed by the manufacturer inside these tires, they are self-healing. Therefore, you will always enjoy full control over your IO HAWK Elite X. When it comes to safety, quality brakes play an integral part of it. You will always stop safely thanks to two fully hydraulic NUTT brakes. Moreover, the scooter is equipped with an additional E-brake that is gentler on materials. Once you add to all that the front, rear and brake lights, the built-in front and rear turn signals and a horn, no one will overlook you on the road.
Use and practicality
The IO HAWK Elite X is a dream come true for all those who expect from their scooter the first-class workmanship, maintenance-free design and riding properties without compromise. However, this machine offers something extra. Namely, a practical package full of state-of-the-art equipment and design, forcing all to turn their heads in the street. This model can withstand incredible loads of up to 150 kg. The new owners will surely be pleased with the fact that the entire scooter is waterproof thanks to IPX6 rating. The replaceable battery serves as the best proof of the scooter’s practicality. Imagine being able to take the battery out and carry it home to charge it. You have the option to charge the battery directly using 2 x 4.5Ah ports located on the battery itself or you can connect the charging cable to the 2 ports located on the scooter. You can ride this machine almost all year round as its wide tires allow you to ride on asphalt, grass, gravel or down the forest roads.
Our rating
The IO HAWK Elite X appeals to its new owners by several specs. Whether it is the maximum range of 100 km, the ability to climb steep hills, the capacity to carry quite heavy riders or, last but not least, the practicality of everyday use in the form of replaceable battery. Moreover, we should mention that the manufacturer thought of creating multiple color versions and, at the same time, it has promised that by 2024 it would introduce new color variants of certain components that you will be able to replace yourself. We can't wait.

The company behind the development of IO HAWK electric scooters uses the same name – IO Hawk Invest GmbH. It is a young and dynamic company focused on future development and customer satisfaction, which are the building blocks of its business philosophy. The IO HAWK products were rated one of the TOP 10 products at the world's largest consumer electronics fair in January 2015, which is evidenced by the company’s popularity and demand for its products among fans of personal electromobility. All models are designed at the Krefeld branch where a team of designers and engineers continuously develops and improves them. After Justin Bieber’s comment in 2015 on IO HAWK One hoverboard: "Look what your boy just got, brand new, this is called the IO Hawk”, this machine that was originally intended for the logistics industry shook the whole of Hollywood. In 2017, they introduced the world's first off-road hoverboard and in 2018 they introduced the world’s first hoverskates. As part of the electromobility legalization process in Germany, on 26 June 2019 they were the first manufacturer in the retail sector to obtain a general operating license from the Federal Office for Motor Transport for their eScooter Sparrow model. The international activities, development, customer service, marketing and sales are all managed from Krefeld.
