Given its price/performance/reliability ratio, the City Boss RX5L is an ideal electric scooter for daily use in a city. Its strengths in the given class include above-standard power of 500 W and a range of up to 35 km while maintaining compact dimensions and an ideal low weight. The attributes like height-adjustable foldable handlebars guarantee great handling when transporting the scooter, either by car or in public transport. The scooter has a simple transreflective display that is easy-to-read even in direct sunlight or at night. It comes with a powerful LED light with a beam reaching up to 10 m in front of the scooter and also a loud horn. Safety and comfort are secured by front and rear shock absorbers along with 8-inch tires (front inflatable tire, rear solid tire) protected by fenders. Additional features include cruise control, USB charging port, rear disc brake and many others.
Body, design and ride quality
The City Boss RX5L scooter is not only practical for everyday use but it also offers a durable frame made of aviation-grade aluminium capable of withstanding loads of up to 120 kg and, at the same time, meeting the technical requirements of the European Union’s EN 17128 standard. Weighing 17.3 kg, this scooter is easy to carry with you in public transport, load it into a car trunk or climb a few floors with it. It is simply to fold in 5 seconds. The clever features, such as height-adjustable handlebars, will suit all riders of 150-210 cm in height. The 55 cm wide handlebars allow stable holding even at higher speeds or when passing uneven terrain. The front and rear shock absorbers coupled with 8-inch tires (front inflatable tire, rear solid tire) provide sufficient comfort and convenience when riding in a city. The scooter is even capable of handling minor bumps and holes. The deck is 48 cm long and 15 cm wide with enough space for both feet placed behind each other. The City Boss RX5L scooter offers all this in two colors finishes – white and black.
Safety, performance and equipment
Once you press the accelerator lever, the 500 W BLDC electric motor mounted in the rear wheel engages and allows you to climb steeper slopes, if necessary. The top speed is software-locked at 25 km/h (up to 35 km/h, if unlocked). The rear wheel drive provides a better solution for stability while accelerating and higher energy efficiency. The scooter is equipped with a rear disc brake. This combination ensures the best possible stability and handling while braking. The integrated 48 V and 13 Ah Li-Ion battery commands a range of up to 35 km. Charging it takes approximately 6 – 7 hours. To make sure you remain visible on the road, the scooter is fitted with a front LED light providing 400 lumen intensity with a beam up to 10 m long. A sufficiently loud horn is another safety feature. When riding in a city, you will appreciate the cruise control that automatically maintains the set speed. The City Boss RX5L uses a transreflective display that is easy-to-read even in direct sunlight or at night. It displays information such as battery level, speed, distance traveled and current gear (1-3). Another practical feature is the USB port functioning as a power bank for a smartphone located at the back.
Use, practicality and maintenance
The scooter design is simple yet practical. Its main advantages include as low as possible weight and compactness. The City Boss RX5L offers a sufficiently powerful BLDC electric motor that can handle bigger inclines than most city scooters. The manufacturer also offers a number of spare parts and some modularity capability, such as the option to purchase a seat. The rear solid tire provides protection against punctures caused by sharp objects or hard curb impacts. The front rim can be easily split in half, allowing you to remove or replace the inner tube or worn tire. It is also possible to replace it with a solid tire.
