Inokim Quick 4

Those looking for an electric scooter for longer trips can either choose a strong and comfortable model offering a long range (being also quite expensive, large and heavy) or they may opt for a small and light scooter (being weak and uncomfortable and “shaking like crazy” due to missing suspension). This is exactly the problem addressed by the Quick 4 – the latest model by INOKIM. It brings an answer to those who are in need of a comfortable, yet powerful scooter for long trips that is not too heavy and expensive at the same time. Moreover, it boasts beautiful design and reliability and quality of the INOKIM brand.

This is the fifth generation of this successful model, which is a draught horse for all those who need a reliable and comfortable means of transport over long distances. Only few electric scooter models got as far as having a fifth generation. However, the Quick model has succeeded in achieving it, as the first model of this series appeared back in 2009. Inokim has been gradually perfecting it to its present form, having no competition in its class.

Safety

Safety comes first when it comes to INOKIM brand. That is why Quick 4 has been made of an extremely strong aluminum alloy used in the aerospace industry. The entire structure is excellently balanced in order to be stable even at higher speeds this machine is capable of achieving. Taking care of braking are the two high-quality drum brakes that brake to a stop reliably even when travelling really fast. The use of drum brakes in this model has been a brilliant move by the manufacturer since they are very reliable and, particularly, maintenance-free, which is why you will not have to constantly adjust them, which is the case with many models equipped with disc brakes. The advantages of drum brakes are not negligible as no dirt or moisture can get inside them. They brake smoothly and do not make strange noises, unlike certain disc brake versions. Simply stand on your scooter and ride. The chassis is sprung by a double swingarm, spring-loaded at the front and with a special rubber block at the rear, contributing not only to comfort but also safety by maintaining stability even at high speeds and when riding on poor surface. The less experienced riders have the option to limit their top speed. The front and rear LED lights contribute to safety. The rear light also serves as a brake light. The larger battery version has branded Samsung cells, which also contributes to better safety in terms of battery quality.

Design

Inokim is a brand that cares deeply about design. Its flagship models, the OXO and OX, won the prestigious Red Dot Design Award. The OZO model has continued in their footsteps, winning several international design awards, such as the Good Design Award or the A' Design Award and Competition. The Quick 4 is no exception as the design was created by the same designer who designed the more expensive iconic models OX and OXO and also the state-of-the-art OZO model. However, you do not need any professional awards to appreciate this scooter’s design. The Quick 4 is a beautiful model in this category of “working” scooters that often look similar as one oak leaf to another. The design is simple and clean, it contains no extra features, which is why it looks light and very practical. The steering column is beautifully aerodynamically shaped and feels robust, which is but expected in case of a scooter intended for long trips. The Quick 4 has relatively well-hidden brake hoses and other cables that do not disturb the overall look of this uniquely designed machine. Unlike other scooters, the rear fender actually works and proves that elegant design with a retro touch can be also functional and you do not have to arrive at a meeting with your pants covered by mud just because your scooter looks “cool”.

Comfort

The combined chassis system ensures riding comfort with wheels mounted on double swing arms. The front wheel uses a well-proven spring solution and the rear one is equipped with a special rubber block system. These shock-absorbing methods are very reliable, maintenance-free and surprisingly comfortable. When riding the scooter, you will almost feel like having a hydraulic shock absorber installed. The scooter can handle poor terrain. We rode with it on a meadow, poor or even field roads. We did not feel tired of excessive vibrations, not even after a long trip. The 10-inch wheels equipped with tires and inner tubes made by CST further contribute to comfort by helping dampening any uneven surfaces. Thanks to this 10-inch size and the branded tire manufacturer, the Quick 4 is not very prone to getting a flat tire. The beautiful and well-arranged LCD display enhances comfort, being integrated directly into the steering rod. The Quick 4 also features a new generation length-adjustable kickstand. Folding the scooter is a simple and comfortable process. Moreover, when in folded position the steering rod remains blocked and it is therefore possible to firmly grab the Quick 4 scooter and carry it. Using a special mechanism, it only takes a few seconds to easily fold the handlebars as well. We consider the overall maintenance-free nature of this model as contributing to comfort, just step on your scooter and ride it. The charging connector is easily accessible and you don’t have to laboriously look for it.

Power and range

The Quick 4 provides the output of 600 W, which is sufficient for reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h, more than enough given that this is not a sports model but rather a model designed for taking long trips around the city. The specs on paper do not tell the whole story. The Quick 4 has a very pleasant acceleration and torque curve, making riding it anything but boring. If you consider this power underwhelming, it probably means you have sporting ambitions and you should rather look at the extreme models, such as Inokim OXO or OX. The fact that this scooter’s range reaches 70 km if you opt for a larger battery containing Samsung cells highlights this scooter’s role of a comfortable draught horse. The range falls to about 55 km, if you opt for a slightly cheaper battery version. The larger battery offers up to 832 Wh of stored energy (52 V and 16 Ah), with the smaller one providing 676 Wh (52 V and 13 Ah).

Whichever battery version you end up choosing, it should be plenty enough for making long trips through the city or even longer weekend trips in nature, as the Quick 4 is not afraid of easy terrain. Weighing only 21.5 kg and considering the fact that it has a fully suspended chassis and two mechanical brakes – those are great parameters for an excellent price.

Use and practicality

It is definitely a very versatile scooter capable of handling more than you might expect at first glance. This is no polished design piece littered with many bells and whistles that will run out of battery after travelling just 10 km, or a machine you would want to get off after a few kilometers because of uncomfortable chassis. Its principal purpose is to make medium and long trips around the city, for which it is perfectly equipped. You won’t have to worry if you need to go on a longer trip or if you do not have time to charge the scooter during the day. When it comes to our local conditions, you will be pleased with its comfortable chassis, which you will be able to make use of both on field roads or on our regular roads or pavements that are full of potholes. Despite its weight, it is still possible to carry it up the stairs, for which purpose there is a practical holder located near the rear wheel. It is easy to fold, including handlebars, so you can safely fit it inside a car trunk, train or bus, being also able to take it with you to an office or a building without causing disturbance. That is why we rank it among practical city scooters with decent performance, enormous range, acceptable weight and, in particular, favorable price.

At this price point, they succeeded in making a reliable machine that not only looks great but is capable of taking you for an incredible 70 km trip at speeds of up to 40 km/h. Weighing 21.5 kg, this is a scooter you remain able to carry and fold to very compact dimensions so it does not take any unnecessary space in your trunk, in a train or at the office. One can feel that this brand pays attention not only to design and specs on paper, but also to safety and reliability. Whether you travel off-road on a field road or on a regular road at 40 km/h, or even at a pedestrian pace somewhere in the city center, it will always make you smile and you will always feel that it has been made for the situation you are in.
