Performance and range

The KingSong 18XL is built around a powerful hub motor located directly in the wheel, offering a rated power of 2200 W and reaching up to 4000 W peak power under short-term load. Thanks to this, the unicycle has a significant power reserve when starting, accelerating, climbing hills, and also when carrying a heavier rider. The motor provides 104 Nm of torque, which helps with smooth acceleration and stable passage through more demanding sections. The manufacturer states a climbing ability of up to 35°, so the 18XL model can also handle steeper urban climbs, bridges, underpasses, or more varied terrain outside perfectly flat roads. The maximum speed reaches 50 km/h, while its use depends on app settings, rider experience, battery condition, and local traffic regulations. Energy is supplied by a high-capacity battery with a value of 1554 Wh, nominal voltage of 72 V, and maximum charging voltage of 84 V; when converted, the capacity is approximately 21.6 Ah. Such a battery is one of the main advantages of the model, as it enables a range of up to 140 km in favorable conditions. In real traffic, the range will mainly be affected by rider weight, speed, temperature, wind, tire pressure, route profile, and frequency of starts. Standard charging takes approximately 14 hours, which corresponds to the large battery capacity and makes the 18XL an excellent choice for long daily routes and weekend trips.

Construction and equipment

Structurally, the KingSong 18XL is built as a powerful electric unicycle without a folding frame, so it has the same dimensions of 495 × 590 × 225.3 mm in both riding and “folded” state. The motor is located centrally in the wheel as a hub motor, so with this type of vehicle there is no distinction between front or rear drive. The 18 × 2.5" tire provides a good compromise between stability, agility, and comfort, while the larger pedals measuring 245 × 155 mm and height of 160 mm provide enough space for the rider’s stance. The model is intended for users with a height of approximately 120 to 200 cm and has a maximum load capacity of 120 kg. Practical features include Bluetooth connection, the KingSong app for checking vehicle status, battery, and mileage, the ability to control lights, lock the motor, and update firmware. The equipment is complemented by speakers, colored side LED lighting, front light, rear/brake light, and improved honeycomb pedals with better grip. The operating range of -10 °C to +45 °C allows use in most common conditions throughout the year.

Safety, comfort and practicality

On the KingSong 18XL electric unicycle, braking is classified in the unicycle category, meaning it is handled by electronic motor regulation and the rider’s body lean, not by a classic disc, drum, or cable brake. Therefore, the correct brake type in the table is unicycle. Braking also uses the regenerative principle, in which the motor helps convert part of the kinetic energy back into electrical energy during deceleration. The suspension is solid (no suspension), so the model has no active suspension or shock absorber; riding comfort is mainly based on the larger wheel diameter, 18-inch tire, and stable body geometry of the unicycle. In terms of safety, the front light, rear/brake LED light, and prominent side lighting are important, helping improve visibility in the city and at dusk. Practicality is enhanced by the retractable handle, the ability to check data via the app, and battery durability, which according to the manufacturer can handle 500 charging cycles while maintaining capacity above 70%. A classic cruise control is not listed as a separate function on this model, which is natural for a powerful unicycle, as the rider controls speed through balance, leaning, and electronic settings.

Within the KingSong range, the 18XL belongs among models aimed primarily at long range, stability, and balanced performance without an unnecessarily complicated construction. Compared with smaller models such as the 14D or 16S, it brings a larger 18-inch wheel, higher stability at higher speeds, a 1554 Wh battery, and a range of up to 140 km, making it more suitable for longer transfers and more demanding daily use. Compared with newer suspended models such as the S18, S19, or S22, it does not have active suspension, but precisely because of that it retains a simpler construction, lower service requirements, and direct contact with the road. The 18XL model therefore makes the most sense for a rider who does not want an extremely sporty or significantly heavier unicycle, but is looking for a proven machine with a 2200 W motor, 4000 W peak power, 104 Nm torque, 120 kg load capacity, 50 km/h speed, and a very strong battery reserve.
