The entire scooter radiates experience in design as INOKIM is one of the oldest manufacturers of electric scooters in the world. They built and sold their first electric scooter eleven years ago, which cannot be said of the vast majority of “newcomers” to the market. The Mini 2 weighs just little over 10 kilograms but still manages to reach speeds of up to 25 km/h while maintaining extreme practicality and compactness, which are features many other city scooters can only dream of.

Use and practicality

The Mini 2 has been designed as an ideal solution to solve last few kilometers of a planned route. Whether those are kilometers leading directly from your house or after getting off a bus or from a car parking area, you will always travel them in style and with a smile on your face. Despite its ultra-light weight of little over 10 kg, it offers more than sufficient specs for short distances around the city. You can take your Mini 2 wherever you need and later it will take you back home. Almost no other scooter in the world offers the option to fold and pull the scooter behind you as a luggage on wheels. Moreover, this scooter will conveniently remain standing upright, taking up minimum space. It reaches speeds of up to 25 km/h and fully charges in 3.5 hours. If necessary, it will carry you over 25 kilometers. Considering its low weight, it is amazing that INOKIM managed to incorporate suspension into this scooter in the form of a flexible joint in the scooter’s platform. The recommended maximum load capacity of the scooter is 75 kg. You will be pleased with the integrated phone charger – you can charge your smartphone at any time via the USB port and make use of the high-capacity battery in the INOKIM Mini 2.

Safety

The INOKIM brand puts safety before everything else. It is no different with this lightweight model designed primarily for shorter routes around the city. The goal is to keep the weight extremely low while preserving safety. That is why the Mini 2 has a special, thoroughly tested electric brake and, when necessary, you can increase the braking effect using a standard step-on brake by pressing the fender against the rear wheel. The scooter has a driven rear wheel, which significantly enhances safety in the event of motor failure. The front wheel is air-filled and helps dampening any holes or bumps. The rear wheel has a solid tire minimizing the risk of getting a flat tire – the scooter simply has the best of both worlds.

Design

This is a scooter you are not going to confuse with any other. INOKIM makes no compromises when it comes to design. Thanks to its electric brake, the scooter’s look is not disturbed by any cables or bowdens, making the purity of the design as a whole stand out. Radiating from the scooter is its lightness and practical stylishness. Even the suspension got integrated into the scooter’s body, meaning it is practically invisible. The scooter looks great, whether while riding or when folded by hand and standing stylishly on its auxiliary wheels. Arriving to a meeting on this scooter is always elegant and suitable for any occasion, be it a meeting in a café, school, office or a luxury restaurant. Moreover, once folded, you can hide it under the first chair or table, or possibly leave it standing vertically on auxiliary wheels – it takes up minimum space and looks great. There is no other scooter that can be left standing in this position, which makes it even more unique.

Power

Don’t be fooled by its power specs. It may “only” have 250 W, but it is able to deliver this power fully and transfer it to the road through the rear motor integrated directly inside the wheel. In addition to that, the battery uses 36 V, which is above standard voltage in this category. The power transmission is very efficient thanks to this higher voltage and you will be surprised how playful this scooter is. The wheel is small, it only measures 6 inches, which is why the scooter has respectable acceleration – it’s as if you engaged a lighter gear on your bike. It reaches speeds of up to 25 km/h, which is plenty enough in a city.

Comfort

The front 6-inch, air-filled tire helps dampening uneven surfaces along with the swinging shock absorber made of elastic rubber that is integrated directly into the scooter’s body. This shock absorber moves by more than 2 cm, which does not sound like much but, in reality, significantly assists in absorbing shocks or vibrations. No other scooter of similar weight and fixed chassis has such a system. The rear wheel is solid, which means it reduces the risk of a getting a flat tire. Given the scooter’s minimal weight and dimensions, this is a good solution that contributes to riding comfort, being significantly more comfortable than any other solutions without a sprung chassis. Naturally, it can not possibly match the comfort offered by heavier, fully sprung models. But then, it is not this scooter’s job to match them. This scooter has been designed to make shorter trips around the city, it does not have to be capable of travelling dozens of kilometers on a poor surface. Considering its mission, the comfort offered by this scooter is sufficient and it will surely be appreciated by those who are primarily looking for an extremely light, practical foldable scooter for shorter distances. Contributing to the comfort are the integrated USB port for charging smartphones, which is always at your disposal, and the scooter’s complete maintenance-free operation – just stand on it and ride it.

Range

Despite its low weight, the scooter does not save on the battery, hiding a 36 V, 7.8 Ah battery with total stored energy of 280Wh and cells made by LG. Given the weight of about 10 kg, these are excellent specs providing a range of almost 28 km when riding economically. This is many times a standard trip envisaged for this model, which means the range should be enough for everyone. Moreover, to keep the battery in good health, it is better to charge the scooter every night rather than to ride it until the battery dies. With a completely empty battery, the charging time is less than 4 hours.

Our rating

This is an ultra-light electric scooter, which is reflected in its practicality and specs. In terms of price, it finds itself in the premium segment of the light scooter category, but it counterbalances it by its parameters, design, practicality and reliability. Just turn it on and ride it without any maintenance needed, except for the occasional front wheel pressure check. Moreover, it looks really great and thanks to its auxiliary wheels it can not only stand upright when folded but it is also super practical as you can pull it behind you like luggage and you don’t have to carry it. We recommend it for trips of up to 5 km around the city and for riders weighing no more than 75 kg. If you are planning longer routes or weigh more, this model is not for you. You will have to sacrifice on weight and buy some other scooter that is little heavier. On the other hand, if you don’t take long routes or if you are planning to move the scooter often by public transport or in your car, this model will repay you with its fly weight and decent specs.
