THE-URBAN #BRLN V2 is not only a model intended for the urban environment, it has been made for it. The maximum load capacity of this scooter is 100 kg, which is an excellent figure given that we are talking about a scooter weighing mere 14 kg. With a range of approximately 20 km, it is intended for short trips around the city, which is evidenced by its 350 W output. It has an air-filled, 8-inch wheel at the front and a solid, 8-inch wheel at the rear.

The inspiration for this model came from the manufacturer’s first brand as it is very difficult to find differences when comparing it to its “older sibling” Egret EIGHT V2 X. This model is also equipped with front and rear springs, which compensate for small wheels. Riding this scooter is therefore comfortable, even on poor surfaces. You can choose between five speed levels and control your speed with a finger lever.

Use and practicality

This model is made for short trips around the city. Hand in hand with low weight, the scooter’s big advantage is its compact dimensions when fully folded, as this model allows easy and quick folding of not just the scooter body but also the handles, including brake levers. It is equally easy and intuitive to unfold it in a few seconds and make it ready for taking yet another unforgettable ride. With its weight of 14 kg, it is positioned very closely to the category of ultra-light scooters. You can easily carry it up the stairs or load it into a car or a tram without having to exercise by lifting dumbbells six months before buying it. We recommend the #BRLN V2 for making daily trips around the city up to 15 km. If you are looking for a practical and reliable city scooter, you’ve just found it. Thanks to its excellent compactness, you can take it with you folded to the office or restaurant where it will not bother anybody, which means you won’t have to leave it locked in the street. You can also easily fit it inside the trunk of a regular car with enough space left for other necessary luggage.

Range, performance and safety

Compared to the Egret EIGHT V2 X, the #BRLN V2 model offers a little smaller battery capacity, which is precisely why it comes with a more affordable price. The Li-ion 36 V and 7.3 Ah battery, corresponding to 263 Wh of stored energy, is capable of travelling 20 km per charge. The scooter has the rear wheel driven, which significantly improves safety in the event of motor failure compared to models that come with a front wheel driven. The motor is located directly in the rear wheel, delivering 350 W power, which is plenty enough for normal riding around the city. Charging the battery from 0 to 100% takes about 4 hours. However, if you are among those less patient, it only takes 2 hours for the battery to charge to 70%. In addition to aforementioned reliability, we should also mention that in this weight category, along with Egret EIGHT V2, it is one of the few lightweight folding models offering mechanical brakes on both wheels. The majority of manufacturers only use one brake or electric braking in order to reduce the scooter’s weight. On the other hand, this model relies on standard drum brakes bringing safer riding and a reassuring feeling that you can brake and come to a stop even in emergency situations. The road in front of you is clearly visible thanks to the scooter’s lighting system. At the same time, you are properly visible to other road users.

Comfort and design

The scooter is made in neutral black finish – as the saying goes, black suits everybody and every occasion. However, if you want to be a little different on the road, the manufacturer also offers a dark gray finish, which too suits every occasion. It uses mostly rounded edges, thanks to which it looks stylish and less technical. This design is often associated with more robust electric scooters. The rear fender not only looks functional but it is precisely what it is. You can definitely throw away any fear of your pants or calves (in case of women) getting muddy while riding. The design looks simple but purposeful, underlining the lightness of the scooter itself. The design of the folding mechanism matches the rest of the scooter body and looks elegant. The cabling is mostly well hidden inside the scooter’s body, which in turn feels lean. This model may be equipped with just 8-inch wheels, but riding it is comfortable thanks to springs located at the front and rear, which help filtering out vibrations and uneven road surfaces. We must emphasise, however, that although this model features suspension, it clearly remains a model not intended for fast sports riding, so it is certainly better to go around large potholes in order to avoid getting a flat front tire. The light weight also contributes to comfort, as you can easily carry this scooter when necessary.

The scooter’s main advantages include standard drum brakes on both wheels, which improve safety along with springs on both axles. All models by this brand come with adjustable steering rod height, so the #BRLN V2 is no exception in that and can handle tall riders. The scooter has a practical kickstand, thanks to which it can stand on its own. The scooter’s suspension will make your ride both more comfortable and safer. Weighing mere 14 kg, it ranks among extremely light scooters. Its primary intended use is in the urban environment where you can simply and effortlessly carry it up the stairs or even take it with you to the office or restaurant. You should keep in mind the scooter’s relatively short range of 20 km. For longer distances, even around the city, we would definitely recommend considering buying some other model, such as Egret TEN V3 X.

About the brand

The German company Walberg Urban Electrics has been selling THE-URBAN lifestyle brand since 2017. This is the “younger sibling” of the premium EGRET brand, which the company has been offering since 2012 and has already distributed more than 60 000 units. Its founder, Florian Walberg, started as an ordinary user of electric scooters. Based on his personal experience, he realised the huge potential of this new form of mobility.
