The Minimotors company has won the fans of urban electromobility in the past with their Dualtron Mini model. This practical urban scooter has everything urban riders expect – compact size, quality design, performance and decent range. As its launch happened some time ago, the people at Minimotors have decided to modernize their popular model. The result? The Dualtron Mini Special offering broader standard equipment with modernized and safer components. Given its peak power of 1450 W, a top speed of 25 km/h and a range of 60 km, the Dualtron Mini Special represents a truly special combo worthy of a top urban scooter.

Body, design and equipment

The changes for the better are noticeable the very first time you look at its body. A fundamental visual, as well as functional, change is seen with the deck that is covered by a rubberized top layer. This surface reduces the risk of slipping and, at the same time, the rubber layer is easier to maintain. Naturally, there is a raised deck section at the back allowing better and more comfortable posture. The Dualtron Mini Special remains faithful to the robust and simple folding system that uses a single lever mechanism. A change for the better is also seen in the scooter’s cockpit. The 60 cm wide handlebars of the Dualtron Mini Special are foldable and come with ergonomic grips at both ends. The EY3 display made in-house by the Minimotors is installed on the handlebars, displaying information on your speed, range and current riding mode. Under the display there is the popular accelerator finger lever. The scooter design has been updated to a modernized look with pure black finish of the Dualtron Mini Special complemented by adjustable ambient RGB lights on the sides of the deck and the steering rod.

Power and range

Since the drive unit of the first version of the Dualtron Mini scooter became popular among riders, the Special version continues in this tradition. That is why it is fitted at the back with a brushless BLDC electric motor with a nominal power of 450 W that can briefly deliver a peak power of 1 450 W. However, it is not about power only when it comes to overall riding experience. The range contributes to it as well. It is taken care of by a 52 V LG battery with a capacity of 21 Ah. It provides you with freedom to ride for 60 km without having to think about where to recharge the battery. The charging port is factory-protected by a cover preventing dirt from entering inside. It takes 12 hours to fully charge the Dualtron Mini Special via this port.

Safety and ride quality

The urban nature of this electric scooter takes the Dualtron Mini Special to a higher level, especially with respect to riding comfort. This is due to the fact that the 9-inch wheels at the front and back are fitted with inflatable tires at the factory. Even more significantly contributing to comfort is the chassis combining a spring with rubber insert at both wheels. The scooter thus handles larger bumps without problems while you remain in full control of your ride. They even used aluminum as the material for the front wheel, further enhancing safety and durability.

When it comes to safety, the Dualtron Mini Special comes with a maintenance-free, yet powerful drum brake at the rear, which is assisted by an electronic regenerative brake. We must neither forget the lights. A pair of LED lights at the front guarantees riding in the dark without worries. At the back there is a red light that also serves as a brake light. Once combined with ambient RGB lights on the sides of the deck and on the steering rod and nobody will ever overlook you on the road.

Use and practicality

The even stronger body, modernized equipment and performance make the Dualtron Mini Special a virtually perfect urban scooter. It can handle broken roads and most hills, you can fold it in a few seconds and take it with you wherever you want. This also applies to riding it as this scooter can do longer trips outside the city. Add the IP54 waterproof rating to all that and you have a complete package ready to tackle urban challenges. Its weight will not stop you either as it only gets to 22 kg. Meaning, basically anybody can carry and store this scooter. Especially given that its dimensions are 111 x 117 x 60 cm (length, height, width) and 111 x 41 x 20.5 mm when folded. It can carry up to 100 kg.

With the standard Dualtron Mini model, we said that it was a winner among ideal urban scooters. However, it has been now dethroned by the Dualtron Mini Special. The attributes such as maneuverability, safety and comfort have been taken to a higher level by the new design and modernized equipment. Those wishing to get a comprehensive urban scooter you can hide under the bed, yet a scooter that also does not complain during more demanding trips, have just found their hot favorite.
