ZERO 8X

The 8X is the smallest of the trio of extreme models made by ZERO (8X, 10X, 11X). It ranks among the extraordinarily powerful models and thanks to two electric motors providing total power of 2300 W it reaches speeds of up to 55 km/h. Moreover, thanks to its high-quality chassis equipped with hydraulic shock absorbers and springs, this model is not afraid of the terrain. It will always bring you home with its range of over 100 km.

On the other hand, this scooter requires an experienced rider who is able to tame it and make full use of its potential, both off and on the road. The option of riding on a single motor comes as an advantage significantly increasing the range when you do not need the scooter’s full power. With its parameters, the scooter feels similar to riding its big brothers 10X or 11X. However, it is much more practical as it is lighter, has foldable handlebars and you can fit it in a trunk. Within its class, the 8X beats most of the competition by its specs while maintaining excellent price that makes it one of the best scooters in terms of price/performance ratio.

Power

Thanks to its two powerful motors, the 8X offers peak power of up to 2300 W. This power is transferred to the road by two 8-inch solid wheels. The power is controlled by two 25 A controllers with large coolers dissipating any excess heat, extending the serviceable life of electronic components and ensuring long-term full performance even in difficult conditions. Thanks to its 2x2 drive, this scooter masters every situation, including terrain. The 8X likewise feels home in a city. It offers sufficient performance for you to be sure that you won’t be slowing down any traffic. Smaller wheels mean that this scooter’s top speed is lower compared to 10X, however it offers faster acceleration.

Range

This model’s range depends on the selected battery, which naturally affects its price. If you opt for a higher-quality 26 Ah 52 V battery containing LG cells and capable of storing energy of up to 1352 Wh, it will give you a range of 100 km in ECO mode provided that you ride “sensibly” at about 25 km/h on a flat surface. The above range is when using single motor. The 18 Ah battery containing LG cells with the stored energy of 936 Wh is enough for about 60 km of a gentle ride, but it comes with a more favourable price. The battery charging takes 10-11 hours, but can be halved when using two chargers as the 8X model is equipped with two charging connectors. When riding dynamically using both motors, it is naturally necessary to take into account a shorter range, which can be cut in half as at these speeds you consume a lot of energy just to overcome air resistance. Nevertheless, with this scooter you do not have to worry about your range, which is more than enough.

Comfort

The 8X features two hydraulic shock absorbers combined with a spring, making it a very comfortable scooter. And although the 8X’s comfort is fantastic, we consider the 10X model a little more comfortable as the 8X has smaller 8-inch wheels that are solid. However, their advantage is that you can’t get a flat tire, which naturally enhances comfort and a good feeling that you won’t have to deal with anything, though they make the comfort a little worse. You will appreciate the chassis when riding in a city where it excellently filters out our bumpy roads, as well as off the road where it has no problem riding on a bad surface. Moreover, the chassis is adjustable, allowing you to make it stiff when riding fast, at which point a stiffer setting comes as an advantage with the chassis not hitting the end stops, thus contributing both to your comfort and safety. You can adjust the scooter to your weight and riding style. The ability to adjust chassis stiffness is fantastic because it also changes the ground clearance based on the use – higher ground clearance in off-road conditions, lower and more comfortable clearance when on the road.

Safety

The 8X’s safety is based on its chassis excellently dampening any bumps or holes and, in particular, on its mechanical disc brakes installed both at the font and rear. The hydraulic chassis equipped with a spring comes with adjustable stiffness, which means that you can adapt it to your riding style. The battery made of high-quality LG cells further enhances safety. The strength of the entire scooter allows load capacity of up to 120 kg. The scooter features front, rear, and side lights and also a brake light. Moreover, there is enough space on the steering column to install any additional lighting, should you decide to buy it for your new precious scooter. Because of its smaller wheels, the top speed reaches 55 km/h (compared to 10X’s 65 km/h), which we consider sufficient still given the wheel size. The advantage being that you can’t get a flat tire with solid wheels and you do not have to check the tire pressure, meaning the scooter is always ready for a ride. Despite the handlebars being foldable, they have no play and with their width of up to 60 cm you will always have sufficient control over the scooter.

Design

The black-red combination is a unique signature of all ZERO models and looks fantastic on the 8X model. As one of few scooters out there, the 8X has its own design language, making it stand out among all other scooters in this performance category, which look similar as one oak leaf to another. The beautiful swinging arms in silver finish reveal the hydraulic shock absorber equipped with a spring and make it known that it is not a usual machine but rather a versatile scooter of enduro type that is not afraid of anything. The disc brakes are a perfect match for closed wheels hiding a motor, highlighting the sporting nature of this model. This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful scooters out there that builds on a design based on functionality, which is however thought through in every detail. With its smaller wheels, this model looks more agile and playful than its bigger brothers 10X or 11X.

Use and practicality

This is not a typical tuck-away city scooter. Its weight reaches 33-35 kg (based on selected battery), which means that you will surely not want to carry it up the stairs. Thanks to its smaller wheels and, in particular, foldable handlebars, when folded this scooter is significantly smaller compared to 10X or INOKIM OXO. It fits easier inside the trunk of a regular car, but if you want to take it with you on a longer car trip (for instance, to a sea resort), it is better to put the scooter on your car’s rear bicycle rack mounted on a tow hook. Except for its bigger weight, this is a fantastic solution for both inside and outside the city. With its design and performance, this is one of the world’s most versatile scooters. Thanks to its 2x2 drive, this scooter can handle terrain and even steeper climbs. In a city, you will surely appreciate its performance when riding up the hill, as well as its range, not having to worry even when you need to go on a longer trip or when you did not have time to charge the scooter during the day. In our conditions, you will be delighted by its very comfortable chassis capable of handling the worst roads despite only being fitted with 8-inch solid wheels. Thanks to these wheels, you also do not have to worry about flat tire, meaning your ride can be a bit more carefree. The smaller wheels give this scooter a little better acceleration compared to its brother, the 10X model.

The Zero 8X is a very powerful scooter featuring 2x2 drive, solid wheels and high-quality chassis equipped with hydraulic shock absorbers, bringing off-road performance to the urban environment. In this performance category, the scooter offers excellent price/performance ratio, representing a great alternative to other brands. The option to ride on a single motor greatly increases the range and also enhances this scooter’s practical use. With 8-inch solid wheels you can not get a flat tire and combined with the excellent chassis they offer outstanding comfort, which however comes at the expense of little more weight. It is really difficult to chose between 8X and 10X. The 10X is a little more comfortable and faster. On the other hand, the 8X has a little better acceleration, it is better foldable and can’t get a flat tire. A difficult choice for us as well. However, if you often need to carry your scooter in a car or if are afraid of a flat tire, go with 8X.
