The IO Hawk Nine electric scooter combines the features of this brand's Legacy model in a compact design. That is why it is also called ‘Legacy Mini’ yet the word "mini" only applies to its more compact size. The rest of this scooter is designed for top performance. IO HAWK intends to provide its customers with a full-fledged scooter that is perfectly designed, powerful, practical, safe, intelligent, and lightweight. You can choose between a single or dual motor version, which affects the overall performance and range of the scooter. Also, you can choose from four beautiful color versions - black, red, yellow, or mint.

 

Body, design, and equipment

The IO Hawk Nine is made of ultra-strong forged aviation-grade aluminum alloy that makes sure of maximum durability. The top part of the IO HAWK Nine is dominated by the built-in LCD panel. It displays all the necessary riding data. People at IO HAWK have developed a mobile app for their customers, which you can use, for instance, to pair an NFC chip and lock your machine remotely. After connecting your smartphone to the scooter via Bluetooth, you can set the scooter’s advanced riding options, turn on/off one of the motors (applies to dual motor version), as well as control the lights, set your initial acceleration method (kickstart), auto power off time of the scooter when it is not used and many other specs. Naturally, all these options are available via the control unit as well. The manufacturer’s efforts resulted in a compact, yet well-equipped machine with almost maintenance-free design.

 

Power and range

The IO HAWK Nine combines great performance with long range and high build quality. The two motors installed directly in wheel hubs are capable of delivering a power of 1200W. In case of the single-motor version, the scooter provides a nominal power of 500W or a peak power of 1000W. Once you press the finger lever, you can ride at a speed of 20 km/h, which is more than sufficient for an urban environment. In terms of specs, the 48V lithium battery with a capacity of 15Ah does not lag behind the rest of the scooter. It only takes 6 hours to fully charge the battery, allowing you to cover a distance of 70-77 km depending on the selected scooter version. It features 2 charging ports that allow charging using 2 separate 2Ah power supplies (1 power supply is included in the box). This means that it is possible to cut the charging time from 6 hours to just 3 hours when using a second power source. Plus, not even a hill with a 20% gradient frightens this machine.

 

Safety and comfort

With Nine, you do not have to worry about damaging your knees when riding through rough terrain. This scooter comes with front and rear suspension in the form of adjustable hydraulic springs combined with traditional swing arms. This optimizes its shock-absorbing capacity. The chassis is therefore able to fulfill its main role - maximum riding comfort. The comfort of riding this scooter is complemented by 8.5-inch off-road tubeless tires. Quality brakes should form an integral part of any quality electric scooter. You will always stop safely thanks to two fully hydraulic brakes installed in the dual-motor version. The single motor version uses standard disc brakes to stop safely. Moreover, the scooter is equipped with an additional E-brake that is gentler on materials. Once you add the front, rear and brake lights, the built-in front and rear turn signals and a horn, no one will overlook you on the road.

 

Use and practicality

The weight of 24 kg places it among light to medium-heavy scooters. The handlebars and handlebar grips of the IO Hawk Nine can be folded in a few steps thanks to the patented triple-locking mechanism, which sets this model apart from other scooters in its category. This creates a compact design that allows you to transport up to 3 scooters in a standard passenger car. It makes the IO Hawk Nine a perfect companion for traveling or camping. It can withstand incredible loads of up to 150 kg. The scooter boasts IPX6 waterproof rating. However, just like its manufacturer, we recommend protecting the scooter from water and completely avoiding riding in the rain or through puddles. Whether in summer or winter: 8.5-inch off-road pneumatic tires allow you to ride on asphalt, forest roads, grass, sand, or gravel. Enjoy smooth and safe riding thanks to the combination of traditional swing arms and hydraulic suspension. The extra-wide deck offering additional rear footrest ensures optimal stability and support when riding, even at higher speeds.

The company behind the development of IO HAWK electric scooters uses the same name – IO Hawk Invest GmbH. It is a young and dynamic company focused on future development and customer satisfaction, which are the building blocks of its business philosophy. The IO HAWK products were rated one of the TOP 10 products at the world's largest consumer electronics fair in January 2015, which is evidenced by the company’s popularity and demand for its products among fans of personal electromobility. All models are designed at the Krefeld branch where a team of designers and engineers continuously develops and improves them. After Justin Bieber’s comment in 2015 on IO HAWK One hoverboard: "Look what your boy just got, brand new, this is called the IO Hawk", this machine that was originally intended for the logistics industry shook the whole of Hollywood. In 2017, they introduced the world's first off-road hoverboard and in 2018 they introduced the world’s first hoverskates. As part of the electromobility legalization process in Germany, on 26 June 2019 they were the first manufacturer in the retail sector to obtain a general operating license from the Federal Office for Motor Transport for their eScooter Sparrow model.
